The Archbishop of Canterbury's visit to the Diocese of Norwich

Caister Lifeboat Station

Caister Lifeboat Station

On Thursday 8 November the Archbishop Justin was in the east of the Diocese.

At 11am there was a short service at Caister Lifeboat station, attended by people from the local community and the lifeboat crew members.

There were contributions from the children of Caister Junior School, including a dramatisation of the 1901 Caister lifeboat disaster, as well as an address from the Archbishop.

Following the service the Archbishop boarded the Caister offshore lifeboat (one of the fastest in the country) and lay a wreath at sea for all those who have died at sea in wars over the last 100 years.

About the visit

The Archbishop of Canterbury visited the Diocese of Norwich from Wednesday 7 – Friday 9 November 2018.

We are just a few days away from the 100th anniversary of the ending of WW1, and this, combined with Archbishop Justin’s passion for reconciliation, contributed strongly to the shaping of the programme.
